Find My Past's #TreeChallenge
Find My Past have created a challenge for all the genealogists out there! The #TreeChallenge started on Monday (23) and lasts for a week. Also, Find My Past have made their birth marriage and death records as well as census transcriptions completely free to signed in users. If you do not have a Find My Past account you can do so for free without giving over any bank details. They are also making their 'hinted' records free to view.
The aim of the challenge is to learn more about your ancestors and to encourage you to subscribe to their website. To get 'hints' on your relative you need to either create a tree on their website or upload a GEDCOM file of your tree. You will start to see little orange circles with a number in saying how many hints this individual has. You then can check to see if the hints are for the correct person before accepting or declining them. From what I understand the 1939 Register is not included in this.
If you find something interesting during this week (23rd to the 30th) and share it on social media (such as twitter) along with the hashtag #TreeChallenge you could win a 12 month subscription to Find My Past and one lucky winner will win a gadget bundle worth £1,000! So it is worth a chance to see if you could win.
There are terms and conditions to the #TreeChallenge which can be found here.
If you are going to take part in the challenge good luck!
