New 'Who Do You Think You Are?' Series!
Genealogy is certainly popular on TV at the moment! Last week I was talking about Family Finders, this week the BBC have released the list of celebrities on series 12. This week’s article will be going through the list of celebrities appearing on the series.
Anita Rani, radio and TV presenter. This could be an interesting episode, as Anita has Indian ancestors, which will hopefully pop up in her episode. This could lead to her using Indian records for tracing her genealogical roots.
Anne Reid, a TV and film actress. Interestingly, her father was a correspondent for the Daily Telegraph and she would visit her parents in India (again), Tehran and Beirut. So she may visit these countries or stay closer to home and trace her ancestors here.
Derek Jacobi, actor and stage director. We may see him trace his British ancestors or we may see him tracing his great grandfather a German immigrant. So could certainly be a good episode.
Francis de la Tour, actress known for being in Rising Damp and Harry Potter. Of French descent, we will probably see records from both sides of the Channel and could be an interesting episode.
Frank Gardner, journalist and correspondent. Will probably be more of a British-themed episode, but that’s not a bad thing! It may give us more chance to see some of the more ‘different’ records, which some genealogists may not think of using!
Gareth Malone, choirmaster and presenter. This episode will probably see records from all over the British Isles, from Scotland across to Ireland. Should be interesting to see why all these movements of family occurred.
Jane Seymour, actress. Born Joyce Frankenberg with the mother’s maiden name of van Trigt, you can see how this is going! Her father is of Jewish and Polish descent and her mother is from the Netherlands. So we will probably get to see all sorts of foreign records.
Jerry Hall, model and actress. She is American, so we will probably get to see records from ‘across the pond’, this could then send us anywhere and she might even find out she has British Ancestors!
Mark Gatiss, actor, comedian, screenwriter for Sherlock and Doctor Who and novelist. Possibly of Irish descent (not totally sure on that though) we could again see records from across the UK.
Paul Hollywood, baker and TV presenter. The other half of the two cooks from the Great British Bake Off as Mary Berry was in last years’ series! From a line of bakers his grandfather was a baker at The Adelphi Hotel. Again will probably be another chance to see some intriguing British records.
I know this weeks article is slightly earlier then normal, but I'm busy on Thursday and I would like to share this information with you. If you're looking forward to this series comment below.
