Who Do You Think You Are? Series 13 News!
Recently, the BBC released the list of celebrities who will be finding out their family history in this year's series:
Amanda Holden: There is apparently a rift between Amanda and her father, Frank Holden, so we will probably be finding out about her mother's side - but you never know; we might some of her paternal side! Amanda was born in Portsmouth (like many of my ancestors). From TV insiders, we know she finds a romantic story of cross-Channel love during the Napoleonic era.
Cheryl (Tweedy/Cole/Fernandez-Versini): Born in Newcastle in 1983; Cheryl will apparently look into her Newcastle roots - I also have ancestors from there as well so this could be interesting episode for me!
Danny Dyer: We actually know quite a lot about this episode - we know that Danny discovers a royal connection in his London roots. This could be quite a good episode as we will hopefully see some actual tracing of his family tree.
Greg Davies: Born in St. Asaph, due to his father driving his mother to Wales - to make sure he was born there, his father, who died this year, was Welsh and his mother is English - so we will probably see some English and Welsh places in his show.
Sir Ian McKellen: Born in Burnley, TV insiders have found that he has quite an interesting past with criminals, bigamists and war heroes. Could be an action-packed episode!
Liz Bonnin: Born in France, with a French father and Trinidadian mother who is also of Indian-Portuguese descent. We probably won't see any British or Irish genealogy but could be an interesting episode.
Ricky Tomlinson: More British genealogy here, born in Bipsham, Blackpool he was the son of a baker and seems to come from quite modest backgrounds - but we shall see!
Sophie Raworth: Born in Surrey, her father seems to have been born in Yorkshire and it seems that his side of the family could be from there and his mother's side looks to be from Lancashire with movements into the Yorkshire area.
Sunetra Sarker: Producers have said that she travels to Bangladesh to find out more about her heritage.
Warwick Davis: Seems to have London roots but could easily spread to other parts of the country!
All in all; there are some big names here and stars you will probably recognise so should be a quite a good series - let's just hope there is some digging in this year's show and not many "here you go, here's them in the [insert year] census"
This year's show has a lot of potential and should be a good watch!
